Job Definition: Under general supervision, performs a variety of carpentry, masonry, and other duties necessary in road and bridge construction and drainage structures by performing the following duties.
Job Grade: D
Description: Excavating for the bridge foundation; constructs forms for concrete; fabricates and places reinforcing and structural steel; places, vibrates, finishes and cures concrete; fabricates and erects bridge members; cleans, paints, and waterproofs bridges. Installs prefab concrete boxes and drainage pipe; constructs brick or block masonry. Performs general carpentry work in construction of bridges and drainage structures. Operates and maintains equipment such as, backhoe, gradal, track hoe, crane, etc. Reads and works from blueprints. May train other employees. Utilizes carpentry tools and power tools. Assists in general road maintenance and construction. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills: Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools and materials used in the carpentry, trade and masonry trades; in conforming to construction standards and specifications; in the use of a bridge deck finisher. Knowledge of practices, methods, tools and materials used in carpentry and masonry trade; of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades; of departmental policies and procedures; of safety rules and equipment; and of bridge construction. Ability to plan, lay out and perform carpentry and masonry work; to read and work from blueprints; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; and to maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform heave manual labor.
Education / Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard four year high school supplemented by Vo-Tech training in carpentry and masonry and over five years of satisfactory, full time paid employment in heavy construction, bridge building or related field; or any equivalent combination of education or experience, substituting one year of employment for one year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two years.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid Oklahoma Drivers License
Salary Range: $2,346.20 per month
Work Schedule: 6:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Thursday
