Tulsa County – Named Among Top Ten in the Nation for our Effective Use of Technology

‘Tulsa County received an award during the National Association of Counties 74th Annual Conference in Nashville, Tenn. in July 2009.  They were recognized for being among the top ten counties in the nation with a population of 500,000 or more for their effective use of technology.  Recent efforts include implementation of a massive county-wide ERP/financial system as well as providing additional online services to the public such as the GIS floodplain maps and redesigned website.  This is the sixth consecutive year that Tulsa County has been honored with this distinction of being among the top ten counties in the nation.’

Where History & Progress Meet

Thought process behind the new Tulsa County Logo

When designing the logo for Tulsa County I did some research into the history, culture, and events that play major keys in the development of the region. The Native American influence and heritage was prominent in the early development of the area. I also found that during the Oil Boom many buildings were built with the influence of the Art Deco era. Many of these buildings are prominent buildings in the downtown area of Tulsa.

Knowing that both of these influences play a large role in the county I started to find ways to incorporate them into the logo. The design represents the artwork of Native Americans, with large feather like shapes and bright colors. The Art Deco influence is found in the geometric shapes, colors, and typography.
